Founding Fathers’ Lounge
The Founding Fathers’ Lounge, a classically styled antique lounge that harkens back to the founding of our great nation. This unique space is more than just a gathering place, it is a modern-day forum for solving civil problems, generating new ideas, and building a like-minded community. Inspired by the meeting houses of old and Benjamin Franklin’s Junto, the space compels conversations that lead to the expansion of freedom.
During breaks or special events guests may spend their time relaxing and or reading in the “Founding Fathers’ Lounge”. This theme and decor promotes deep and stately conversation between adults and mature reasoning and language from the youth.
A Space Steeped in Tradition
When this country was founded, our Founding Fathers often gathered in intimate settings like lounges and taverns to discuss and deliberate on the issues of their time. These small, collaborative environments were instrumental in shaping the course of American history. At the Founding Fathers’ Lounge, we honor this tradition by providing a similar space for modern thinkers and community builders to come together.
Historical Inspirations
Many of the most significant ideas and events in American history were conceived in settings just like the Founding Fathers’ Lounge. Here are a few notable examples:
- The Declaration of Independence: The foundational document of the United States was penned in a Philadelphia Boarding House by Thomas Jefferson.
- The Birthplace of the United States Marine Corps: On Nov. 10, 1775, an innkeeper (and former Quaker) named Samuel Nicholas was assigned by the Continental Congress to raise the first two battalions of Marines, so he did it at — where else? — Tun Tavern.
- The Boston Tea Party: This pivotal act of protest against British taxation took place in Boston’s Faneuil Hall, the “Cradle of Liberty”, where Samuel Adams asked, “Is it the firm resolution of this body that the tea shall not only be sent back but that no duty shall be paid thereon?” And with a great shout, the men answered, “Yes.”
- Fire Departments, Libraries, and More: Benjamin Franklin’s Junto Club met in his private study and served as a launching pad for many public projects. Out of the meetings came proposals for the creation of the first library, fire company, university of Pennsylvania, hospital, and militia.
The style and theme of the venue hark back to the days of our founding fathers, and perhaps if they had a favorite meeting place, we hope to have embodied it.
A Modern-Day Think Tank
At the Founding Fathers’ Lounge, we provide an atmosphere that encourages deep thinking, lively debate, and the exchange of ideas. Our lounge is designed to be a comfortable and inspiring environment where visitors can:

The Tun Tavern Room
At Freedom Hall & Academy, we honor our rich historical heritage through spaces that inspire action and reflection. One such space is the “Tun Tavern” room, named after the birthplace of the United States Marine Corps. This room is more than a historical nod—it’s a call to action, a space where hearts, hands, and minds come together to create meaningful change.
A Legacy of Action
The original Tun Tavern in Philadelphia is renowned for its pivotal role in American history. It was a hub of revolutionary thought and action, the birthplace of the Marine Corps, and a gathering place for individuals committed to the cause of freedom. Inspired by this legacy, our Tun Tavern room embodies the spirit of taking decisive action rather than remaining stagnant or trapped in endless contemplation.
Heart, Hands, and Minds in Motion
The Tun Tavern room at Freedom Hall & Academy is designed to encourage proactive engagement. Here, we emphasize the importance of balancing thought with action. While deep thinking and planning are essential, it is the execution of these ideas that brings about real change. This space serves as a reminder that without action, ideas remain just that—ideas.
A Place for Community and Growth
The Tun Tavern room is a community space where members can come together, share their experiences, and support each other in their endeavors. It’s a place where you can find encouragement, collaborate on projects, and celebrate the collective achievements of our community. By fostering a spirit of camaraderie and mutual support, we build strong foundations for sustained personal and communal growth.
We The Peoples’ Classroom.
Introducing the nation’s first of its kind venue, Freedom Hall & Academy, a place where patriotic, like-minded people meet to sharpen one another and to do right by their fellow country men and communities.
At freedom Hall and Academy, we begin with “We The Peoples’ Classroom.” Not a traditional or sterile classroom but a space that encourages free thought, critical thinking, discourse, and simple conversation.
The Classroom is more than just a place for instruction—it’s a vibrant, dynamic space designed to inspire free thought, critical thinking, meaningful discourse, and simple conversation. This is where we cultivate the minds of individuals who seek to understand and engage with the principles that shaped our nation.
A Nod to Our Founding Fathers
Our Founding Fathers deeply valued education and mental advancement, recognizing these as cornerstones of a free and just society. In their time, literacy was not merely a skill but a vital tool for every American citizen. Being literate meant being informed, and being informed meant having the power to influence and understand the political landscape. Our Founding Fathers knew that an educated populace was essential for the health and longevity of the republic.
Importance of Literacy and Political Awareness
In the 18th century, literacy rates soared as Americans sought to stay informed about the political developments of their time. Not allowing the Stamp Act to slow them, news spread by means of newspapers, and pamphlets that fueled ideas toward the quest for independence.
Reflecting Historical Values in Modern Education
The “We The People” Classroom is a modern reflection of these historical values. Here, we emphasize the importance of understanding the foundations of our government and the principles of freedom that our nation was built upon. This classroom is not a traditional, sterile environment but a welcoming space that encourages students to engage in thoughtful dialogue and critical analysis.
A Space for True Freedoms
In the “We The People” Classroom, we delve into the profound concept of freedom—both physical and spiritual. Students explore how governance and personal liberties intertwine, learning about the rights and responsibilities that come with being an informed citizen. Courses in this classroom cover a wide range of topics, from the Constitution and the Federalist Papers to the spiritual God’s Natural dimension of freedom.
Fostering Critical Thought and Discourse
We believe that true education goes beyond rote learning! It is rather encouraged in an environment where critical thinking begets ideas that can be freely exchanged and debated. It is a space where students can challenge assumptions, explore new ideas, and develop a deeper understanding of their role in the democratic process.
